If you love your animals as much as I love my pets, you probably want to give them the best of the best when it comes to modern technology that will make both their lives, and mine, easier. However, we have to remind ourselves that they may not be aware of some of the things we may see as difficulties, nor do they really care, so it doesn’t always make sense to splurge on something if it won’t be appreciated. There are plenty of cool toys and gadgets out there to choose from, but we have compiled a list of some of the must have items for any tech-savvy pet owner.

 Automatic Pet Door

This is probably on the more expensive end of gadgets for pet owners but can be so very useful if you have any indoor/outdoor animals and are not home often enough to let them into your yard. The problem with most pet doors is that that are not secure, allowing any animal to come in and out, whether it is your dog, the neighbor’s, or a squirrel. The automatic pet doors work with a sensor function on your pet’s collar to open the door which is otherwise shut and locked securely.

Activity Tracker

Over the last few years there has been a huge boom in the trendiness of fitness trackers for the human kind. They help us to be aware of how healthy or unhealthy we may be, and keep track of our health patterns. Recently, the market for activity trackers for our pets has also grown. There are a variety of brands out there but most will monitor your pet’s activity and feeding patterns and some are even gps detectable so you can be aware of your pet’s location at all times. Visit PetSmart to purchase the brand that is best for your pet. These are more common for dogs than cats as dogs tend to need more exercise.

Automatic Dart Laser Pointer

This one is more about entertainment than practicality, but pretty cool none the less. More useful for cats than dogs, these fancy toys will keep your kitty entertained for hours on end. With multiple settings for speed and patterns, it is easy to see how this can be distracting. The best part about it is that you can set it to automatically turn off after different internals of time. This is helpful when you are trying to distract a pet before you leave home but don’t want to overstimulate them with a never ended laser pointer.

Illuminated Collar

Both cats and dogs can benefit from an illuminated collar. These collars come in multiple sizes and are great for night walks. Your dog will be clearly visible on the road and much less of a risk than if they were wearing a regular collar. If you have an indoor/outdoor cat, or just a cat that likes to hide in dark places, this can be a smart choice for you so that you won’t ever have to spend hours searching for them again.
